Summary: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths. While early-stage has traditionally been treated by surgery, advanced NSCLC has typically focused on palliative care. Recent improvements in systemic therapies, such as immunotherapy, imply an updated view of surgical indications.
1. History of Lung Segmentectomy - Tracing its evolution and advancements like minimal invasive accesses, indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence and 3D modeling.
2. Reviewing milestones of the past 30 years of segmentectomy.
3. Multimodal Approaches - Highlighting the role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and immunotherapy in locally advanced lung cancer and strategies for salvage surgery in metastatic cases
