Building on her theoretical work on moral agency, Dr Zeng interrogates how conversational AIs both embody and obscure normative assumptions. Drawing on her latest ongoing research, she highlight the biases and limitations of popular LLMs not only as communicative tools but also as instruments for research. In doing so, she calls attention to the entangled ethical and epistemic stakes of relying on these systems.
