The conference is organised by “Fragmentarium - International Digital Research Lab for Medieval Manuscript Fragments”. The goal of Fragmentarium is to create a scholarly social network that enables libraries, collectors, researchers and students to upload medieval manuscript fragments and to describe, transcribe and assemble them online. Collaborating with 15 partner institutions throughout Europe and the USA, the project aims, over the next years, to lay the foundations for research on medieval manuscript fragments by providing open standards and guidelines. During the conference we want to present our project, discuss questions regarding digital libraries and introduce the first six Case Studies, executed by our partners (UB Leipzig; Biblissima – Campus Condorcet; Bodleian Library, Oxford; Österreichische Nationalbibliothek; Stiftsbibliothek St. Gallen; Beinecke Library, Yale).
