We document intergenerational mobility in Switzerland along four dimensions. Using two large administrative datasets matched to census and survey data, which link i) the universe of labor incomes since 1981 and ii) income and wealth tax returns over two generations, allows us to study the intergenerational correlation of income, wealth, education and occupation, as well as other outcomes such as employment probabilities of mothers given parental working histories. First results show that income mobility in Switzerland is higher than in the U.S. or even Sweden, while education and occupational mobility appears to be low. We further investigate differences by gender and migratory background.
