Granular Matter in Space
Kolloquium / Kongress / Forum

Präsenzveranstaltung
Granular Matter is of particular interest in space-based investigations as it is (a) the raw material for most endeavors aiming at utilizing local resources and also (b) sensitive to gravity effects in its density regimes of granular gases, fluids, and packings. For the latter three regimes, the latest results from microgravity experiments shall be presented. Here, video monitoring, laser scattering, and sound transmission are used, respectively. Regarding the use of locally sourced grains as building material, sintering and binder-based techniques shall be critically assessed.
