While individual as well as group psychedelic assisted psychotherapies are popping up more and more around the world, very few research seem to really focus on the setting of such practices.
Does group psychotherapy and the intersubjective aspect it brings to the experience allow significant improvements in the way psychedelics can be used in a therapeutical setting? Can some risks be minimized by this shared experience? And what can we learn from ancient ceremonies which have been using those type of settings for centuries, if not millennia?
The present paper club proposes a discussion of the 2021 survey from the Imperial College London Team, who’s been working on the subject. It will also offer a humble overview of different books and scientific papers which have in many different ways question the importance of intersubjectivity in the psychedelic experience.
