DESCRIPTION:Public lecture as part of a search committee in tectonics and structural geology\n\nSummary: Convergent tectonic plate margins represent a dynamic interface where tectonic plates plunge into Earth’s interior and deform, forming mountain ranges. They serve as pivotal locations for the transfer of fluids, melts, and heat between the Earth’s interior and surface, and major barriers affecting biodiversity. My research focuses on understanding the link between slab dynamics and crustal tectonics. I do so by studying tectonically active basins that record interaction between tectonic processes and climate. However, inverting tectonic and climate signals and determining cause-and-effect relationships is often hindered by sparseness in data coverage and/or variable time-space scales of processes controlling the signals’ preservation potential. In my research, I overcome these challenges by integrating field observations, the interpretation of geophysical datasets, and numerical models.\n
