DESCRIPTION:The characteristic polynomial of a hyperplane arrangement \nis related to many counting problems. In the first half of this \ntalk, I will give an overview of several aspects of the \ncharacteristic polynomial. Then I will focus on the relationship \nwith lattice points counting and Eulerian polynomials, in \nconnection with a conjecture by Postnikov and Stanley on \nthe location of roots of the characteristic polynomial of \ncertain arrangements.
