DESCRIPTION:In this talk we go through the history of methods for counting planar maps, namely Tutte's original approach, matrix integrals and the bijective methods recently developed by Schaeffer. We then dive into the fascinating geometry of planar maps and will outline certain links with 2D quantic gravity and the Gaussien Free Field.
SUMMARY:Prof. Nicolas Curien (Université Paris-Sud Orsay): A panoramic introduction to random planar maps
