DESCRIPTION:Extending work of Cheeger and Gromov, Lott has recently initiated a theory of collapsing under a lower bound on the curvature operator in which manifolds with almost nonnegative curvature operator play a fundamental role. I will discuss constructions of manifolds with an obstruction to this latter property in the framework of his work.\n<br> [invited by A. Dessai]
