DESCRIPTION:The aim of the talk is to provide a very brief introduction to the \nhomogenization method applied in modeling composites and porous media.\nThe homogenization consists in asymptotic analysis of PDEs with\nrapidly oscillating coefficients corresponding to varying material \nparameters over a given periodic ""microstructure"".\nThe periodic unfolding method is based on transforming the problem in \nthe two-scale domain, so that standard notions of convergence can be \nused. The method will be presented when applied to homogenization of a \nvisco-elastic solid, yielding a new quality of the effective \nconstitutive law due to fading memory effects. The method is convenient \nfor modeling large contrast composites or double-porous media, as \ndemonstrated by few examples.\n<br />\n[Invited by Ales Janka]
