DESCRIPTION:The global energy transition is accelerating, driven by the need to reduce CO₂ emissions and enabled by declining cost of renewable energy production. A central pillar of this transformation is electrification: a shift from fossil-based systems to electric solutions, with simultaneous growing deployment of renewable electricity such as wind and solar.\nThis increasing share of intermittent renewables in the power grid is creating new challenges for balancing supply and demand. A key solution to enhance operational flexibility in the power grid are emerging Battery energy storage systems (BESS), particularly used for managing daily fluctuations in photovoltaic generation.\nThe presentation will explore the role of batteries in supporting a sustainable energy transition, with a focus on stationary battery systems.\n
