DESCRIPTION:Conférence publique dans le cadre d'une procédure d'appel en gynécologie et obstétrique.\n\nSummary: Acute and chronic pain are common symptoms reported by women with various reproductive health conditions, including ectopic pregnancy and endometriosis. Ectopic pregnancy is a life-threatening condition in which the fertilized egg implants outside of the uterus, often causing severe abdominal or pelvic pain. Therefore, it requires prompt diagnosis and treatment. Delay in diagnosis can lead to serious maternal morbidity and mortality. Endometriosis is a benign but often debilitating condition in which endometrial-like tissue grows outside of the uterus, leading to cyclical pain and potential fertility issues. Endometriosis is estimated to affect up to 10% of women of reproductive age, and symptoms often begin during adolescence. However, Endometriosis is less immediately life-threatening than ectopic pregnancy, but it is a chronic condition with a significant impact on quality of life. In some cases, the pain associated with endometriosis can be similar to the pain experienced with ectopic pregnancy, making accurate diagnosis and management critical.\nThe impact of ectopic pregnancy and endometriosis extends beyond the individual level. Therefore, we will discuss effective strategies for the early detection, diagnosis, and management of these conditions to mitigate their impact on individuals and society as a whole. We will also report actual and future research contributions by our department in these fields.
