DESCRIPTION:This work presents an experimental study of the static as well as dynamic electronic structure of IrTe2. This transition metal dichal-cogenide (TMDC) undergoes two structural phase transitions as a function of temperature significantly changing its electronic structure. During this thesis, we revealed one additional surface phase transition at low temperature. The phase transitions of a pristine crystal, a potassium-doped crystal, and a crystal under uniaxial mechanical strain have been investigated. X-ray tech-niques (XPS & XPD) were employed to investigate the core-level electronic states and their environment, while angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and low energy electron dif-fraction (LEED) were utilized to observe the surface electronic states and the surface atomic structure. In addition, during this thesis, a laser setup was developed and optimised in order to probe femtosecond electron dynamics using time-resolved angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (tr-ARPES). This tr-ARPES set-up was used to investigate the 2D material black phosphorus.\n\nCommentaire: Présentation en français, certificat COVID obligatoire\n
