This talk gives a general introduction to material science. Why it is interesting and how it is useful? It is accompanied with popular illustrations of correlated many-body systems. From these daily life examples, we are going to jump directly into the world of correlated electron systems that display fascinating quantum phases such as superconductivity, charge ordering and electronic driven metal-insulator transitions. Recent research examples will be given along with an outlook to near future activities in the field of quantum matter materials.
